# How does E-Invoicing work in recurring invoices?

You can configure your [recurring invoice preferences](/ae/books/help/recurring-invoice/preferences.html) to automatically push child invoices to Peppol when they are generated or after the customer’s payment is processed.

*   Select **Create, Push, and Send Invoices** to automatically push the child invoices through Peppol when they are generated.
*   Select **Create, Charge, Push, and Send Invoices** to push the child invoices through Peppol after the customer’s payment is processed.

If the invoice fails to be pushed to Peppol, it will remain in **Draft** status, and you’ll receive a notification in Zoho Books and by email. Once the e-invoice is successfully pushed to Peppol, you must send the invoice to the customer separately through email or other configured communication methods.
