Install Agent using Jamf on MacOS  

This guide provides a comprehensive step-by-step process for deploying Zoho Assist on macOS devices using the Jamf management platform. Zoho Assist allows for remote support, unattended access, and remote management of macOS devices. The deployment process involves two main components: the configuration file (`.plist`) and the package file (`.pkg`).

Prerequisites

Before proceeding with the deployment, ensure you have the following:

  • Administrative access to your Jamf Pro account.

  • Download the following files:

    • ZA_MacDeploy.zip file: This package contains com.zoho.assist.deploy.plist and ZA_MacAgent.pkg. You can find it by navigating to Unattended Access > Deployment > Mac Deployment.

    • zohoassist-pppc.mobileconfig.zip: Necessary for screen recording permissions & Accessibility.

Deploying the PLIST File

Extract the Deployment Package

Extract the downloaded ZA_MacDeploy.zip file that includes the com.zoho.assist.deploy.plist and ZA_MacAgent.pkg files.

Upload and Configure the PLIST File in Jamf

  1. Log in to your Jamf Pro account.

  2. Navigate to Computers > Configuration Profiles and click New.

  3. Under General, fill out the necessary details, such as name and description for the profile.

  4. Select Application & Custom Settings.

  5. Click Configure next to Custom Settings.

  6. Choose Upload PLIST File and upload the com.zoho.assist.MacDeploy.plist file.

  7. Once uploaded, ensure the settings are correctly configured to suit your requirements.

Deploy the Configuration Profile

  1. Assign the profile to your target macOS devices or groups.

  2. Save the configuration profile to deploy it to the selected devices.

  3. Verify the deployment by ensuring the `com.zoho.assist.MacDeploy.plist` file is present in the `/Library/Managed Preferences/` directory on the target devices.

  1. Go to Computers > Packages and click New.

  2. Upload the `ZA_MacAgent.pkg` file and provide the necessary details.

Create a Policy for Deployment

  1. Navigate to Computers > Policies and click New.

  2. Under General, set the policy name and configure the trigger and execution frequency according to your needs.

  3. In the Packages section, click on Configure, then add the `ZA_MacAgent.pkg` from the list.

  4. Configure the installation options as required.

Deploy the Policy

  1. Assign the policy to your target devices or device groups.

  2. Save and enable the policy to initiate the deployment.

Enabling Screen Recording Permissions and Accessibility Permissions     

Deploy the Mobileconfig file for Screen Recording Permissions:

  1. Extract the zohoassist-pppc.mobileconfig.zip file.

  2. In Jamf, navigate to Computers > Configuration Profiles and create a new profile.

  3. Upload the extracted `.mobileconfig` file to configure screen recording permissions.

  4. Assign and deploy this profile alongside the Zoho Assist agent to ensure proper functionality.
