Deprecation Policy
Zoho Cliq is a business collaboration platform, thoughtfully designed with a wide range of features and integrations that are continuously developed to meet evolving user needs. As the platform grows and innovates, certain features, APIs, or extensions may naturally be retired if they no longer align with its future vision or user requirements.
To ensure a seamless experience and minimize disruption, we follow a carefully considered deprecation policy. This policy outlines the process for phasing out elements of the system that are scheduled for removal, providing users and developers with ample time to adapt their workflows and integrations.
Purpose
At Zoho, we believe in continuous improvement and innovation, and in keeping our platform fresh, secure, and user-friendly. This policy outlines how we manage the deprecation of features and APIs, ensuring that our users are informed and supported throughout the process.
Why we deprecate
We see deprecation not as a negative step, but as a natural evolution of our product. Here’s how we approach it:
User-centric: Our priority is to enhance user experience. If a feature no longer meets your needs or is underutilized, we consider it for deprecation.
Innovation-driven: Technology evolves rapidly. We aim to replace outdated features with modern, efficient alternatives that provide greater value.
Security first: Protecting your data is paramount at Zoho. Features that pose security risks may be deprecated to ensure a safer environment for all users.
Scope
This policy applies to all features, integrations, and APIs offered by Zoho Cliq.
ⓘ Definition
Deprecated: A feature that will no longer receive enhancements but will continue to function for existing users. New users or those who haven't utilized them are encouraged to transition to newer alternatives. The goal of deprecation is to allow for a smooth transition while maintaining backward compatibility for current users.
Retired: A feature, service, or product that is no longer available or supported. Once retired, it is permanently removed from the system and cannot be accessed.
Unlike deprecated features, which may still function temporarily while users transition away from them, retired features are permanently discontinued and typically do not receive any further updates or support.
Timeline:
Standard deprecation period: 3 months
Extended periods may be provided for high-impact features
Shorter periods may apply for critical security, legal, or compliance requirements.
