[Back](./) # What to do if there are no employees to pay for a specific pay period? * * * If there are no employees to pay for a specific period, you can **skip the pay run**. Zoho Payroll does not require you to process payroll if there are no active employees or if no hours or compensation apply for that cycle. This won’t affect your tax filings or payroll records. To skip a payroll: 1. Log in to you Zoho Payroll organization. 2. Go to the **Pay Runs** module. 3. Click **View Details** next to a payroll. 4. In the _Pay Runs Details_ page, click **Skip Payroll** at the top right. **Insight:** If you don’t see the **Skip Payroll** option, it might be due to the existence of employees in this payroll. You’ll be able to see this option once you skip all the employees from the payroll.
