# Can an item be both batch tracked and serial number tracked?

No, in Zoho Inventory an item can either be serial number tracked or batch tracked, but not both. You can enable both serial number tracking and batch tracking in your organization. However, while creating a new item, you can only choose the tracking method that would best suit your item.
