# I want to sell the batches that expires first. How can I do that in Zoho Inventory?

While adding batch numbers to an item, ensure that you have specified the expiry date against each batch number. And when you’re selecting the batches in your invoice, notice that the batches are automatically sorted in the order of first expiring batch to the last. This way you can select those batches of items that need to be cleared out first.
