Subcontract Manufacturing Order Operations

Zoho ERP provides a few additional actions and limitations specific to a subcontract manufacturing order, in addition to the actions available for a standard manufacturing order.

The actions you can perform on a subcontract manufacturing order are classified into:

Management Actions

The management actions let you manage the lifecycle of a subcontract manufacturing order after it is created.

Edit Service Item Price

You can update the price of a Service Item in the Purchase Order raised for the vendor, as long as the associated subcontract manufacturing order has not been marked as Completed.

To edit the service item price,

  • Navigate to Purchases module on the left sidebar.
  • Hover over Purchase Orders in the top Module bar and select Purchase Orders from the dropdown.
  • Select the Purchase Order created for the subcontract manufacturing order.
  • Edit the Rate for the required service item.
  • Click Save.

Note: Once the associated manufacturing order is marked as Completed, the service item prices in the Purchase Order can no longer be edited. The final prices at that point are used to calculate the finished goods cost.

Cancel a Subcontract Manufacturing Order

You can cancel a subcontract manufacturing order in Draft, Confirmed, or Released status.

To cancel the subcontract manufacturing order,

  • Go to Manufacturing on the left sidebar.
  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the top module bar.
  • Select the subcontract manufacturing order in Draft, Confirmed, or Released status you wish to cancel.
  • Click the More icon in the manufacturing order details page.
  • Select Cancel.
  • Confirm your action by clicking Proceed in the pop-up.

Delete

You can delete a subcontract manufacturing order in any status.

To delete the subcontract manufacturing order,

  • Go to Manufacturing on the left sidebar.
  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the top module bar.
  • Select the subcontract manufacturing order you wish to delete.
  • Click the More icon in the manufacturing order details page.
  • Select Delete.
  • Confirm your action by clicking Delete in the pop-up.

Clone

Clone lets you create a new subcontract manufacturing order using the details of an existing one.

To clone the subcontract manufacturing order,

  • Go to Manufacturing on the left sidebar.
  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the top module bar.
  • Select the subcontract manufacturing order you wish to clone.
  • Click the More icon in the manufacturing order details page.
  • Select Clone.
  • Modify the required fields and click either of the buttons,
    • Save as Draft – To create the subcontract manufacturing order as a draft.
    • Save and Confirm – To confirm the subcontract manufacturing order.

List View Actions

A subcontract manufacturing order appears in the same Manufacturing Orders list as a standard manufacturing order, and is identified using the Subcontracted badge next to its manufacturing order number.

Other Actions

View Journal

View the journal entry created for the subcontract manufacturing order to record material consumption, work-in-progress, and finished goods. The amount is displayed based on your organisation’s base currency.

To view the journal for the subcontract manufacturing order,

  • Go to Manufacturing on the left sidebar.
  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the top module bar.
  • Select the subcontract manufacturing order you wish to view the journal for.
  • Switch to the Journal tab and view the journal entries.

View Activity Logs

View the complete activity log of actions performed on the subcontract manufacturing order.

To view activity logs for the subcontract manufacturing order,

  • Go to Manufacturing on the left sidebar.
  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the top module bar.
  • Select the subcontract manufacturing order you wish to view activity logs for.
  • Switch to the Activity Logs tab and view the activities.

You can print the subcontract manufacturing order or download it as a PDF.

To print or download the subcontract manufacturing order,

  • Go to Manufacturing on the left sidebar.
  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the top module bar.
  • Select the subcontract manufacturing order you wish to print or download.
  • Click PDF/Print in the manufacturing order details page.
  • Select PDF to download it, or Print to print it.

Lock

Once a subcontract manufacturing order is marked as Completed, you can lock it to prevent further changes.

To lock the subcontract manufacturing order,

  • Go to Manufacturing on the left sidebar.
  • Navigate to Manufacturing Orders on the top module bar.
  • Select the subcontract manufacturing order in Completed status you wish to lock.
  • Click the More icon in the manufacturing order details page.
  • Select Lock.
  • Select a Lock Configuration.
  • Enter the Reason for Locking.
  • Click Lock.
