Domain Mapping

Domain mapping is the process of associating a custom domain name with your Zoho Commerce website.

DNS Configuration

Adding CNAME records and setting up domain forwarding are the only two steps required to map a third-party domain to Zoho Commerce.

A. CNAME Records

To verify the domain, add two CNAME records:

  1. Add a CNAME record with the hostname <token> pointing to <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.com.

Note: EU users must point their CNAME records to <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.eu. Similarly, SA, CA, CN, IN, JP, and AU users will use <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.sa, <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.in, <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.cn, <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.in, <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.jp, and <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.com.au, respectively.

  1. Add another CNAME record with the hostname www pointing to <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.com.

Note: EU users must point their CNAME records to <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.eu. Similarly, SA, CA, CN, IN, JP, and AU users will use <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.sa, <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.in, <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.cn, <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.in, <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.jp, and <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.com.au, respectively.

B. Domain Forwarding

Forward your root domain, yourdomain.com, to www.yourdomain.com or another subdomain.

Zoho Commerce does not provide an A record IP address to map a third-party domain to Zoho Commerce. If your DNS manager has added an A record by default, you can leave it as is.

Note: When forwarding the root domain using HTTPS (for example, http://sampledomain.com to http://www.sampledomain.com), ensure that your current DNS provider redirects http://sampledomain.com to http://www.sampledomain.com.

Domain Mapping Steps

Your domain provider should provide an administrative console to manage and configure your domain. The console’s interface may vary depending on the provider, but the following steps are generic:

  1. Log in to your domain provider’s administrative console.
  2. Go to the DNS Settings section. Find the Forwarding or Redirect option and open it to set up domain forwarding.
  3. Forward the root domain (the domain name without www) to www.yourdomain.com (the domain name with www), then save the changes.
  4. Go to the DNS Configurations or Manage DNS section. Add a CNAME record with an alphanumeric token as the hostname, pointing to <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.com.
  5. Add another CNAME record with the hostname www, pointing to <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.com.

Note: For steps 4 and 5, EU users must point their CNAME records to <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.eu. Similarly, CN, IN, JP, and AU users will use <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.cn, <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.in, <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.jp, and <token>.ecommerce.cs.zohohost.au, respectively.

  1. Save the changes and log out.

Note: If you have issues mapping your domain to Zoho, contact your domain provider’s support team. You can share the steps above and ask them to assist you. Changes usually take 10–15 minutes to appear, but in some cases they can take up to 48 hours.
