# How do I cancel an e-way bill in Zoho Books?

**Prerequisite:**You can only cancel e-way bills with the status **/Generated**. When creating e-way bills, if you save them by clicking **Save** instead of **Save and Generate**, you will not be able to cancel such e-way bills.

To cancel an e-way bill in Zoho Books:

*   Go to the **e-Way Bills** module in the left sidebar.
*   Select the _e-Way Bill Status_ as **Generated**.

*   Click _Actions_ next to the e-way bill that you want to cancel and click **Cancel** from the dropdown.

*   In the pop-up that appears, click the dropdown next to the **Reason** field and select the reason for cancellation.
*   Click **Confirm**.

The e-way bill will be cancelled and its status will be updated to _Cancelled_.
