# How do I extend the validity period of an e-Way Bill?

You can [extend the validity period](/in/books/help/e-way-bill/#Extend-the-Validity-Period-of-e-Way-Bills) of a generated or expired e-way bill up to eight hours before or after its expiration. Here’s how:

*   Go to _e-Way Bills_ on the left sidebar.
*   Select the e-way bill for which you want to extend the validity period.
*   Click **Extend e-Way Bill** on the top-right corner of the page.
*   In the popup that appears, select the **Consignment Type**.
*   Enter the consignment’s **Current Place**, **Current Pincode** and select the **Current State**.
*   Enter the **Approximate Distance (in km)** from your current consignment location to the destination.
*   Select the **Extend Reason**.
*   Click **Save**.

Now, the validity period of your e-Way Bill will be extended.
