[Back](./) # Can I extend the validity of my E-Way Bill? If so, when can I do that? Yes, the validity of an e-Way Bill can be extended if the consignment does not reach its destination within the specified validity period due to exceptional circumstances such as natural calamities, law and order issues, delays in trans-shipment, or accidents involving the conveyance. The transporter must provide a detailed explanation of these reasons when requesting an extension of the validity period. Here’s how you can extend the validity of e-Way bills in Zoho Books: * Go to the &_e-Way Bills_\* module on the left sidebar. * Select the status filter as _Generated_. Locate the e-Way Bill that needs its validity extended. * Click the **Extend e-Way Bill** button. * In the **Extend Validity** page, enter the _Consignment Type_, _Vehicle Number_, _Current Place_, _Current Pincode_, _Current State_, _Approximate Distance_, _Extend Reason_, and other required details. * Once the details are submitted, the new expiry time will be calculated, and these details will be updated in Zoho Books. **Notes:** The option is available for _Generated_ and _Expired e-Way bills_, as the validity of the EWB can be extended before 8 hours and after 8 hours of expiry of the validity. * * *
