[Back](./) # How do I edit transactions that are included in a filed return? Once you file a return in Zoho Books or file a return in the GST portal and mark it as filed in Zoho Books, you will not be able to edit the transactions included in that return. To make changes to the transactions, you will have to unfile the GSTR 1 return to make changes to sales transactions and open GSTR 2 to make changes to purchase transactions. **To unfile GSTR 1:** * Click **GST Filing** in the left sidebar. * If the Branches feature is enabled, you’ll be redirected to the **GSTIN Dashboard** page. Click **View Summary** next to the required GSTIN. * If the Branches feature is not enabled, you will be redirected to the GSTIN’s page. * In the **Monthly/Quarterly Returns** section, Click the _date_ filter and select the latest return that you have filed. ![Marking your GSTR-1 as Unfiled](/books/kb/images/gst/mark-as-unfiled-gst.png) * Confirm your action by clicking **Yes, Mark as Unfiled**. **Notes:** You will be able to edit the transactions only if you have not pushed the transactions for e-invoicing. **To mark the GSTR 2 as open:** * Click **GST Filing** in the left sidebar. * If the Branches feature is enabled, you’ll be redirected to the **List of GSTINs** page. Click View Summary next to the required GSTIN. * If the Branches feature is not enabled, you will be redirected to the GSTIN’s page. * In the **Monthly/ Quarterly Returns** section, click the _date_ filter and select the latest return that you have marked as complete. * Click **Mark as Open** next to GSTR-2. * In the pop-up that appears, click **Mark as Open**. ![Mark as Open](/books/kb/images/gst/mark-as-open-gst.png) **Notes:** Any changes you make to transactions after unfiling your GSTR-1 return should be manually amended when you file your future returns. **Notes:** If you need to unfile/mark a return as open that is not the recent one, you need to unfile/mark the return as open from the most recent filing in reverse sequential order until you reach the return you want to unfile/mark as open. * * *
