# In the sales invoice, the item rate is by default inclusive of GST. How do I make it exclusive of GST?

To update the tax preference for your items:

1.  Click the **Settings** icon at the top right corner of the page.
2.  Go to _Preferences_ and choose **General**.
3.  Scroll down until you find the _Do you sell your items at rates inclusive of Tax?_ and choose the **Tax Exclusive** option. Also, choose the **Round Off Tax** preference.
4.  Click **Save**.
