This error occurs when the monthly CTC does not exactly match the sum of the individual salary components. A common reason is that a component is calculated by dividing an amount over the number of days, which gives a value with a decimal. For example, if a monthly amount of ₹25,000 is divided over 30 days: ₹25,000 ÷ 30 = ₹833.33 A salary component should not carry a decimal value here, so this amount needs to be a whole number, such as ₹833 or ₹834, as applicable. Even a difference of ₹1 causes the error. **Note:** Zoho Payroll does not show the decimals in the salary structure. You will see the rounded figure on screen, but the exact value behind it may still carry a decimal. Because of this, you need to calculate the amounts yourself to find where the difference is. This can happen when you edit a salary structure for various reasons, including fixing an employee whose salary details did not migrate to the revised EPF wage ceiling of ₹25,000. ## How to resolve the error ### Step 1: Open the employee’s salary structure * Go to **Employees** and select the employee. * Switch to the **Salary Details** tab. * Click **Edit** or **Revise** to open the employee’s salary structure. If you reached this error while fixing an employee whose salary details did not migrate to the revised EPF wage ceiling, you can go straight to the next step. ### Step 2: Calculate each component value The decimals are not shown on screen, so calculate the value of each component yourself to find the one that does not come to a whole number. For example, a component shown as ₹833 may actually be: ₹25,000 ÷ 30 = ₹833.33 ### Step 3: Adjust the values to whole numbers Change the component that carries the decimal to a whole number (for example, ₹833 or ₹834), and adjust the relevant component if needed, so that the sum of all the components exactly matches the monthly CTC. * Click **Save**. If the individual components now add up to the monthly CTC exactly, the salary structure saves without the error. If you see the error again, calculate all the component values once more, look for any remaining decimal difference, and adjust the amounts so that the sum of the components exactly equals the monthly CTC. Then click **Save** again.
