tesena, a Czech software testing company founded in 2013 by Marcel Veselka and Phil Royston, has quickly grown from a handful of employees to a workforce of over 125.

Unique in Central Europe, insofar as the company is fully focussed on software testing, tesena offers a wide range of related services, from test consultancy and management, test automation and performance testing, as well as professional training in software testing.

Spreadsheets and Manual HR work

"Like all small start ups, our financial management was initially done using Excel spreadsheets. We realized quickly that we needed a more mature solution, but had a limited time and budget to implement one. We looked at the market and found Zoho Books, which fitted our requirements of a proven, user-friendly, out-of-the-box cloud-based solution at the right price," said Zuzana Reingraberova, Events and Training Manager at tesena.

Their next major growing pain was human resource management and time tracking. In the market again, and based on their positive experiences with Zoho Books, going with Zoho People was a no-brainer.

Beyond HR. Using software apps that talk to each other

Zoho People was implemented for tesena in 2014, and they have been happy customers ever since. Before, their HR processes had been manual. Zoho changed all of that.

"One of the best things about Zoho People is its flexibility. It offers out-of-the-box solutions for HR related processes, which you can either tweak to fit your specific requirements or set up your very own process. As we are heavily focused on the development of our team, we really needed support for career and training planning. We have set up these processes ourselves in Zoho People, which is really useful for my team," added Zuzana. She went on to say, "Zoho People is not used just by our HR department but also by our Delivery Leaders, Office Management, Training Department and Finance Departments."

As tesena continues to grow, their need for software to support operations has also grown. They have since added Zoho CRM, Zoho Projects, and Zoho Reports to their Zoho Portfolio. One major advantage is the extent to which all Zoho modules are integrated, which avoids redundancies.

"We love the fact that your products are connected with each other. When we apply for leave in Zoho Projects, it automatically reflects in Zoho People, so we don't have to update it again. We also use Zoho Reports to analyze team performance and discipline. We have data from all our Zoho modules combined in Zoho Reports and we can create quite sophisticated management reports," said Zuzana. She concluded by saying, "We have been happy using Zoho People, and I think we'll stick with Zoho because of how different products can communicate with each other smoothly."
