# What is the difference between Disconnect and Reauthorisation?

Disconnect and Reauthorisation serve different purposes:

What It Does

**Disconnect**

Removes the existing HMRC connection entirely from your Zoho Books organisation. You will need to set up the connection again if you want to resume submitting quarterly updates.

**Reauthorisation**

Refreshes the HMRC connection when the authorisation token expires (after 18 months) or becomes invalid. Your existing configurations, mapped accounts, and business details remain unchanged.

Use **Reauthorisation** when your connection has expired but you want to continue with the same setup. Use **Disconnect** only if you want to remove the HMRC connection completely.
