4 Reasons you should switch to the all-new Calendar

Another calendar year has come and gone! We applaud you for resiliently completing the events set for 2021, even amidst these challenging times. The Zoho Calendar team wishes you all a healthy and prosperous new year.

As we begin a new chapter, we have made a resolution to transform Zoho Calendar into a refined and well-equipped product to offer a more seamless calendar experience.

Please note: We request you to switch to Zoho Calendar's new version soon as the old version will no longer be available by February 7, 2022. For more information, click here

We realize that this transition will introduce some changes in your everyday usage of the application. However, we're happy to say the all-new Calendar will vastly improve your scheduling experience as it doesn't cut corners in any area. As mentioned in our previous blog post, it's visually delightful and packs in all your favorite features while offering a fresh batch of new features to schedule events smoothly.

Since its release last May, we have received heaps of positive feedback from our customers.  Let's take a look at how the revamped calendar will benefit you with its new features and elements.

1. A clean, clutter-free interface

Nobody wants an interface where they have to crane their neck and squint to find a setting.

The new version of Zoho Calendar comes with a nuanced interface upgrade in which the settings are positioned in optimal places for you to find them quickly. Choose from a variety of modern display themes and embrace the night owl in you by switching to Night Mode. You can also choose your preferred calendar view, tweak it to suit your needs, and create a calendar in a jiffy.

2. Work with teams across the world

Working with people across countries and different time zones can be challenging. You might accidentally set up an event without taking the time difference into consideration, which can lead to confusion.

However, with the new Calendar, you can set up a secondary time zone for your calendar grid display. Have your pick from a variety of time zones and plan events with teams across the world.

3. Search faster and smarter

When you have numerous events and deadlines on your plate, playing hide-and-seek and manually tracking them down can be exhausting. It consumes a lot of time and reduces efficiency.

Luckily, the new Calendar comes with an advanced search you can use to quickly zero in on any event. Type in any detail like the event title, location, or the organizer's name to find the event quickly.

4. No shortages, no double bookings

Imagine you have set up an important conference in your office. At the time of the meeting, you find that the conference room is occupied and won't be available anytime soon. As irritating as it is, you have to reschedule or postpone the meeting. Ring any bells?

The all-new Calendar offers a Resource Booking feature to help avoid scenarios like conference room shortages and double bookings. With Resource Booking, you can add conference rooms and their facilities and get an overview of all the rooms and their resources.

The next time you plan a meeting, simply opt for a room with your preferred resources and schedule an event. Other teams looking at the same room will see it's been booked and can choose another room that fits their needs.

A roadmap of new features

While the newly added features are reasons enough to switch to the new version, the new Zoho Calendar is set to receive many impressive upgrades throughout this year. Here are a few of the features we have planned for 2022.

1. The Zoom conferencing tool is soon to be integrated with Zoho Calendar.

2. Ability to add assets like laptops, projectors, cameras, and more as separate resources.

3. A unified calendar in the palm of your hands!

Free yourself from the clutter of the browser tabs as Zoho Calendar is available as an independent mobile application. This clean mobile version comes with an attractive interface, giving you a unified view of events from other Zoho applications.

You can quickly schedule and manage events, invite participants, add resources, and book rooms—all from the mobile application.

Note: The Zoho Calendar mobile application is currently available in beta. Interested users can register to try out the beta version of the app.

Enjoy seamless scheduling

The new Calendar lets you schedule events faster, manage events across time zones, and quickly find details about any event.  Don't miss out on them as they will prove to be incredibly helpful in delivering a seamless calendar experience.

No need to wait: take the all-new Calendar for a spin and don't worry about any data loss. Every detail for each of your events will be safely transferred to the new version. To switch to the new calendar and back to the old UI, refer to this link.

Reminder: We advise you to switch to Zoho Calendar's new version ASAP, as the old version will be completely deprecated by February 7, 2022. The older interface of Calendar will be deprecated in phases beginning January 31, based on the data center in which your account is created, as per the table below.

  1. The "switch to the all new calendar" message was displayed at the top of my screen even though I had already been using the new calendar for months, which was very confusing. Also, I was hoping you would fix the "Internal server error" that appears whenever you try to edit all future instances of a reoccurring event that is in the past, or via the agenda view, before forcing everyone to use this version of your calendar tool. These problems didn't exist in the old version. Please fix them.

    1. Hi :) We wanted to inform every user that the old UI will not be available. Regarding your query, kindly write to us at support(at)zohocalendar(dot)com and we will resolve it at the earliest.

  2. I absolutely hate the new calendar! I can't get on with it at all: I don't like the look and feel of it; I don't like the fact that if you click on, for example, 4 March on the 'calendar' block on the left, it suddenly whizzes you into May for no apparent reason; I don't like the fact that some appointments you can open and edit and some are for some reason read-only and can't be edited; etc. I want to revert back to the old calendar which I got on really well with. Is that possible?

    1. Hi Dan :) You can only edit the events you create. If the event has a different host, you can't edit the event unless the host specifically gives you permission to edit it. Kindly refer to this page here to learn more - https://help.zoho.com/portal/en/kb/calendar/create-and-manage-events/articles/participant-permissions#Default_Participant_Permissions As for your other query, kindly try refreshing your calendar once and if the issue still persists, write to us at support(at)zohocalendar(dot)com and we will resolve it at the earliest.

    1. Hi Ray :) Kindly close the banner message and check. Whether you are in calendar.zoho.com or using calendar inside Mail, you will see ‘Try the new Calendar’ option if you are in the old UI. In calendar.zoho.com, you will see ‘Switch back to old UI’ in your User Profile menu when you are in the new UI. 1. Hi. I am using calendar.zoho.eu. I am still in the old UI. I have closed the banner message and I do not see the ‘Try the new Calendar’ option. Don't know if this makes a difference but my company is in Canada (as am I) but we opted to use the .eu data centres. Please help. Thank you,

  3. Hi I use the CRM Calendar for booking my time with customers through events. Have you cleaned up the sync with the CRM calendar? currently I see a bunch of bookings dupicated or triplicated in the old Calendar app. I currently use the google calendar integrated with the CRM calendar 2 ways.

  4. It would be great to have the Calendar open in a new tab so you can go back and forth from email to calendar like you can do with Streams.

  5. Hi there! How do we switch over to the new calendar? Is there a link to click on or will it automatically do the switch on 2/7? Please advise. Thank you.

  6. Hello, with the new changes to the calendar. Are you now able to connect an apple calendar? I know that you can do this with Microsoft and Google but not apple previously.

  7. How do I determine if I am using the new Calendar or the old Calendar? I don't have an option to 'Try the new Calendar' in my calendar view, but I also don't have a 'Switch back to classic design' on my User Profile menu.

    1. Hi Scottie :) There was a technical glitch which is now fixed. Whether you are in calendar.zoho.com or using calendar inside Mail, you will see 'Try the new Calendar' option if you are in the old UI. In calendar.zoho.com, you will see 'Switch back to old UI' in your User Profile menu when you are in the new UI. 8. App is still terrible. I can't even find a way to delete old out of date events. For instance, a left click on an calendar event gives no option to to delete it and a right click gives no immediate option as well, but when I click on right click "View event" option (thinking this might take me to a delete option) it opens a page with no delete option and the actual page does not fully load. The load bar at the top just keeps working.

    1. Hi Stephen :) You can only delete events which are created by you. In case you accept an event invite, you can only remove yourself from the event. So, left clicking on an event or clicking the 'View event' option will have the delete option if the event was created by you. You can refer to this help page for detailed instructions on deleting events - https://help.zoho.com/portal/en/kb/calendar/use-multiple-calendars/articles/empty-and-delete-calendar. Hope this helps. As for the load bar, try refreshing your calendar. If the issue still persists, kindly write to us at support(at)zohocalendar(dot)com

      1. I am the admin of my organization. Queries: 1. Is the latest desktop Mail app integrated with the new Calendar? If not, then by when that is expected? 2. How do I give access to my users of Zoho One access to the calendar? 3. How do we switch in the Mail web app to use this new calendar?

        1. Hi Kunal :) 1. Yes, the latest desktop Mail app comes integrated with the new Calendar. You can go to Calendar from the Mail window and click 'Try the new Calendar' present before calendar views to switch to the new UI. However, if you want to switch back to the old UI, it can only be done from calendar.zoho.com and it syncs across the desktop application. 2. Users of Zoho One will have access to the new calendar by default. There is no need for any access. 3. In the Mail web app, go to Calendar and click 'Try the new Calendar' present before calendar views to switch to the new UI. However, if you want to switch back to the old UI, it can only be done from calendar.zoho.com and it syncs across the web application. Hope this helps!
