What tax year does Zoho Payroll use?

Zoho Payroll follows the UK tax year, which runs from 6 April to 5 April the following year. All PAYE tax, National Insurance, pension, and RTI reporting calculations are based on this period, not the calendar year.

A couple of things to keep in mind:

  • If you switch to Zoho Payroll partway through a tax year, you record your prior payroll for the current tax year so your year-to-date figures stay accurate.
  • Some employer tasks reset at the start of each tax year on 6 April. For example, you must claim Employment Allowance again from your first pay run on or after 6 April, if you’re eligible.
