Pensions

A workplace pension is a long-term retirement savings scheme you provide as an employer. Under UK automatic enrolment rules, most employers must assess their workforce and enrol eligible employees into a qualifying pension scheme. You then pay contributions into that scheme on a regular basis.

In Zoho Payroll, the Pensions module is where you manage this. You record when your workplace pension duties begin, then connect a pension provider such as Nest, The People’s Pension, or another provider.

Next, you choose how tax relief applies, which earnings count toward contributions, and what percentage you and your employees pay. Employees who share the same tax relief type, earnings basis, and contribution rates belong to one contribution group. If some employees need different tax relief, earnings basis, or rates, you can create another group for them.

Once that is in place, Zoho Payroll assesses employees, tracks their enrolment status, and calculates contributions in each pay run. You can then export those contribution details and send them to your provider so they can update each employee’s pension record.
